FUND RAISING FOR ‘RAISE’
As many of you know, for part of our introduction to the Watford community we will be making a donation to ‘Raise’, a private charity who exist to raise funds for patient care in Watford General, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans City hospitals. They were once called ‘West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity’ but recently rebranded. Within the charity are ‘charitable funds’ for most of the hospitals’ wards and departments (eg the special care baby unit, haematology day unit, maternity unit etc etc).
Ritika and Sachin (owners of Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Watford) have offered to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit; This team uses charitable donations to buy all sorts of things from specialist equipment to room refurbishments. For example, they recently bought a paediatric cardio scanner from charitable funds, so clinicians can more quickly and accurate investigate heart problems.
